Show Notes: Bamf!: "That had to be the best fucking day of my life. The concert was great and just being in the same auditorium as Green Day at the same time is like flipping honor.
The show started out with the lights going out, the crowd screaming at the top of their lungs, and a slight glow on Gerard Way, the lead singer of the opening band, My Chemical Romance. I'm a huge fan of My Chemical Romance, and I was VERY excited for them to come out. They played Helena first, and as me, coming prepared, brought some binoculars and saw them from my balcony seat. After the song, Gerard started talking about how Green Day was going to rock us down to the bone. My Chemical Romance was great, and it was the first time I ever saw them in concert. They played more songs from "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" and some from their first album, "I Brought You My Bullets, Your Brought Me Your Love". They did really good live, and Gerard liked standing on top of the amps. Just before they left, he said something hilarious. He asked how many ladies were in the crowd, and there were tons of screams, and then he asked them if this was their first concert, and some more screamed. Then he was like "You guys will be going to concerts for the rest of your life, eh? (Screams) And if some guy comes up to you and tells you to show off your tits for a backstage pass, you know what you’re going to do? You’re going to spit in their fucking faces!"
My Chemical Romance put on an awesome performance, but everyone there was only waiting for what was next...Green Day. It started out really weird, with this pink bunny walking out on the stage with some beer and playing YMCA like a drunken fool. It was really funny, and then all of a sudden the Ramones' "Blitkreig Bop" came on, and the bunny was having a blast. The bunny left, and all the lights went down. Everyone was screaming and standing, even if they were in seats. Green Day ran out on the stage and right away started performing American Idiot. They yelled at everybody in the crowd, and made the audience do the wave. It looked really cool. They even sang Jesus of Suburbia for us…that was cool. They went into "Holiday" and then into Are We The Waiting and right after that St. Jimmy. But Billie Joe likes to call them both together "St. Jimmy"... strange. Anyways, by now I was having the greatest time of the life, and then they play "Hitchin' A Ride", one of my favorite Green Day songs. Billie Joe kept getting the audience to go "Hey-o!" many times, and then "1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4" during the song. He wanted us to start going "Ah, Ah, Ah," as loud as we could, and he did it himself too, but... he did a lot differently. He started making sex noises and slowly stuck his hand down his pants and started jacking off in front of the crowd! It was great, not a lot of people do that. They played "Knowledge" after that, which was cool because it was a song from 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, which is a CD not a lot of people knew existed. I knew the words and I sang them at the top of my lungs. But, right before they started singing it, Billie Joe said it was a song written by Linkin Park. I didn't know if it was a diss towards them, but I was like, whatever, and started singing along.
In the middle of Knowledge, they called 3 people up on the stage, a drummer, bassist, and a guitarist. It was pretty cool, Billie Joe asked the guitarist if he had ever been laid. Then he yelled "WELL THEN YOUR GONNA GET LAID TONIGHT!!" The bassist, drummer, and guitarist all played the last part of Knowledge while Billie Joe sang. The drummer then did a stage dive and the guitarist actually got to KEEP Billie Joe's guitar. It was pretty amazing. After that they went straight into "Brainstew/Jaded", which was where I did most of my head banging. My neck still hurts... Then they did "Longview", "Basket Case", and then "She" before Billie Joe just disappeared and came out with a crown on. I knew that the song was already.... "King For A Day". He introduced everyone, the trumpet player dude, and all this crap. Then he was like "And my name is George W. Bush!" You will not BELIEVE how much booing there was in the crowd. Then he goes, "Actually, my name is Asshole" and he starts King For A Day. I was shouting at the top of my lungs, it was so awesome. And then Mike and Billie just kind of... collapse. Billie starts singing to the beginning of "Shout" very quietly. It was beautiful. And some dude came out and draped a cape over him. Billie Joe got up and started singing the chorus to Shout and everyone sang along. I didn't think it could get much louder. Jason White was wearing a Pirate Hat with high heels and Tre’ had a big ass pink hat. It was awesome. Then it was "Maria" and "Wake Me Up When September Ends". I kept yelling out Johnny Ramone. It was beautiful. I had a lighter in my pocket and pulled it out and everyone around was picking up anything that glowed or shined. It was touching. It really was. Then they burst into "Minority", stopping right in the middle of the song to say how much of an awesome crowd we were. Everyone was screaming so loud. It was very weird when he kept saying Nebraska. Then they started "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" which was cool, except I was confused when Billie Joe's face was on the background for the song. But who gives a shit?! After that, they sang a Queen song, "We Are The Champions". I will never be able to listen to that song the same again EVER. At the end of the song, they shot confetti everywhere. And just when you think it was over, Mike and Tre’ leave the stage and leave Billie there all alone, and he sings "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)". All of the lights were on him and he sat down in the middle of the stage.
After it was over, I was pretty depressed.
And that was the night my life was changed forever...
*And I can’t forget to say after King for a day they went off stage and got water guns then ran back on stage and started squirting everyone!"

She'sARebel: "I live in South Dakota so the morning of the concert my sisters and I left and 12:00 for a 4 hour drive to Omaha. we arrived there at 4ish and got in a line that already seemed long. We waited in line for 2 hours in what seemed like 100 degree weather.
They opened the doors at 6:00 and we filed in. As soon as we got in I hurried to the front and the crowd managers made us sit down. It was about 7:15 when the lights dimmed and My Chemical Romance took the stage. I jumped up and pushed myself to the front. I was in the front row just a few feet left of the catwalk. My Chemical Romance put on a great show. They started with Helena and followed with Cemetery Drive, Ghost of you, you know what they do to guys like us in prison, Give 'em hell kid, and they finished with i'm not okay. During a lot of the performance Frankie was spitting. There was a couple of times when it hit my face. The crowd managers were making a big fuss about this and complaining about getting spit on but i didnt care. Gerad always was doing these girly moves which were really funny.
I was happy when their set was over though because that meant Green Day was coming on. They took a while changing the set. Then the drunken bunny came on and danced to YMCA. He went down the catwalk and jumped around. He finally left and the light dimmed again.
It was about 8:15 when Green Day took the stage. They went right into American Idiot. Everyone went crazy. After the song Billie Joe stood there for a long time and just listened to us cheer then he blew kisses to us while saying "I love you, I love you." They played Jesus of Suburbia and Holiday next. Before Holiday Billie Joe shouted out "This song isnt anti-america its anti-war!" They played more songs off American Idiot such as Are We the Waiting and St. Jimmy. During St. Jimmy Billie Joe swung him mic around a lot and even dropped it a few times which made a huge boom. There was also fire that shot out a lot which was very hot since I was in the front.
During Hitchin' A Ride Billie Joe went on the catwalk and started to masturbate finishing with yelling "Somebody fuck me!". They played many songs from Dookie which during a boy got up on stage and sprayed water at us through a water gun. They of course did Knowledge where three people came up and got to play. When the drummer was finished he jumped off the drum set and fell which made Billie Joe, Mike, Tre, and the rest of us laugh. Billie Joe asked the guitarist where he was from and he screamed IOWA. Everyone was silent until he screamed OMAHA. Then at the end after giving him a guitar Billie Joe said "get your Iowa ass off my stage."
During King For A Day Billie Joe put on his hat and cape and Tre put on his pink hat. Then Billie Joe came right in front of me and mooned us all. That was the best part of the night.
They finished the set with Minority which was always upbeat. Then they left the stage. The screen kept flashing Green Day, Green Day. So we all chanted and they came back on the play Maria. They finished with Billie Joe on the catwalk singing Good Riddance.
It was the best concert ever, and even though I was squished and dieing of dehydration, I really had the time of my life. It ended at around 10:15 so it was a good 2 hour show.
I recommend everyone to go see a Green Day show because it is worth it"
