Show Notes: (Rolling Stone) - Green Day have canceled the rest of their concerts scheduled for 2012 and have postponed 2013 shows in January and early February while singer Billie Joe Armstrong continues treatment for substance abuse.
“Obviously the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern,” bassist Mike Dirnt said in a statement that also announced that Green Day have moved up the release date for ¡Tré!, the last installment of an albums trilogy. “We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned,” drummer Tré Cool said. “If we couldn’t be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing.”
¡Tré! will now come out December 11th, instead of January 15th. ¡Dos! is still set for a November 13th release. Armstrong entered rehab last month after exploding in a tantrum onstage during the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas. For a full schedule of canceled or postponed tour dates, visit the band’s website.
(Live 105) - Is Green Day The Hardest-Working Band In Rock? Watch Their Webcast To Find Out
When Green Day goes to work, they really go to work. As the days continue to countdown to the release of the long-anticipated full-length ¡Uno! (the first of the planned ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tre! album trilogy coming over the next four months), the power-punk trio is systematically rocking out any and every stage in their path.
Performing a handful of not-so-secret club dates (including a raucous performance at L.A. club Echoplex and Billie Joe Armstrong going solo acoustic at New York’s Bowery Electric), the band is even reaching beyond their vast fan base with a string of unexpected TV performances. Just this week, they fired up your little sister and her friends with a run through “Oh Love” during the season finale of America’s Got Talent, mere hours before rocking out for your mom and the morning-show contingent with a blazing three-song rooftop set (including older tunes “Holiday” and “Basket Case”) on Good Morning America while you were still sleeping.
Now, Green Day fans, the boys are plugging in and rocking out especially for you. The band will surely blow the roof clean off of the Red Bull Sound Stage when they hit the stage for an exclusive performance that you can watch from the comfort of your favorite digital device.
On September 24 starting at 3pm PT, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, Tre Cool and the gang will be primed and ready to blast through tunes both old and new in the tiny concert venue, the Red Bull Sound Space. The band will also be participating in a fan Q&A, and since nobody knows them like their legion of diehard fans, feel free to drop your burning and pertinent questions for Green Day in the Comments section.
Anyone with a decent online connection will be able to tune in and watch every power chord and cymbal crash as they happen. Best of all, you won’t have to sit through any singing dogs or meatloaf recipes to get to the good stuff. The webcast will be all about Green Day, continually making the case that they are indeed the hardest-working band in rock. It’s destined to be one for the ages that you don’t want to miss. Welcome to paradise indeed!"
